Very happy to announce that I successfully renewed my Cambodia visa for an entire year. This may not sound like much of an achievement but it’s a big relief for me, especially after facing the challenges and uncertainty of acquiring similar visas for living in Thailand.
It’s hugely reassuring to know where I’m going to be based for the next year of my life. And the fact that I feel that way shows that I’m more of a settler at heart than a traveller (at least for now anyway).
Discovered one of those “why-did-nobody-tell-me-about-this-sooner?” bits of software called Kanata which lets you customise your keyboard layout. I knew that similar software was available for mechanical keyboards but didn’t realise you could achieve the same thing on any laptop.
Not only will this prevent my pinky from constantly getting lost when trying the backslash key, but it will also (hopefully) make for faster and more efficient typing. I’ve spent hours planning how to use it and will likely spend countless more hours unlearning the muscle memory I’ve built up over the years.
I’ve been studying some new technologies within machine learning. It’s interesting stuff and I can sense that there’s a practical use case hidden in there for me. Having a strong use case is often the point at which I go from being interested in something to being completely absorbed by it. And being absorbed feels good.
